Blind pianist Russ Palmer has Usher Syndrome, a rare genetic disease that affects both his hearing and vision. It causes deafness or hearing loss and an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa. Russ, who was born deaf, only has partial sight. He is in the process of building a new life for himself after a divorce, as a music student at Dartington College of Arts. Here he talks about his condition and how it has impacted his life.
