A look at various aspects of life in clubs over the past 100 years.

It's hard now to imagine how important clubs were in people's social lives. There was hardly anybody who wasn't involved in some sort of club or society - it's what people did. Now of course it's a common event that people don't have enough time, but in the decades during which these films were taken, it's clear that so many people were keen to join in. Hobbies and clubs were a way of getting out, meeting your friends, and enjoying a shared pleasure. So, explore the WI in Church Fenton as they take one of the Institute's specially chartered trains to the Norfolk Broads and the Keighley Model Boat club hosting the world model boat championships in 1974. Plus, the Bradford Motor Club is featured in 1947 as they attempt to get around petrol rationing by holding their annual trails contest on pushbikes instead.
