The Yorkshire Film Archive at York St John University save and celebrate screen heritage made in or about Yorkshire. They connect broad and diverse audiences to their cultural and socially significant collection that reflects the life, landscape, and identity of the people of the region since the 1890s. Together with their sister archive in the North East they form the Yorkshire and North East Film Archive, a unique pan-regional resource with over 75,000 moving image artefacts. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles takes a look some of the big transport stories of the ITV Yorkshire region over the past 100 years. Among the stories are how a team of Yorkshire engineers helped in Britain's first ever formula one victory, Amy Johnson's record-breaking solo trip to Australia, and life as a steam train driver. The programme also looks at life in a shipyard on the Trent in the 1940s, the story of David Brown tractors, and one of the country's premier motorcycling Hill Climbs at Post Hill near Leeds.
