Guinness: Cycle Race
Ah, those were the days when competitive racing and a pint of stout went hand-in-hand.
A compelling television advert that puts the viewer in the position of an elite cyclist, rewarding themselves for a good race with a refreshing Guinness. The message is simple and soothing - 'You've earned that Guinness' - but the style of this advert is fast and tense, particularly the cyclist's-eye-view as the bike pushes through the crowd.
Guinness commercial. Begins with a cycle race where most of the shots are
taken from the perspective of a rider who eventually wins the race. The film
continues after the race as he enters a pub, still seen from his point-of-view,
joining two friends who are seated at a table just as a waiter is placing down
two glasses of Guinness, one of which is for him. He then raises the glass
towards the camera, the white froth from the head of the drink slowly filling
the screen--cut to final shot of a caption that reads the same as the
simultaneous voice-over: "You've earned that Guinness".
