Anne hosts an in-studio debate between those working in the fur industry and animal welfare activists.
Fur farmers and members of the fur trade debate with animal welfare activists and members of Lynx, an animal welfare charity. They discuss the moral arguments against wearing fur, the economic and environmental impact, and trends in the demand for fur clothing. A lecturer in Fashion and Design at Ulster University speaks about students using fur during their course.
Lynx began a public campagin against the wearing of fur in the 1980s with high profile celebrity supporters such as Elton John, George Michael, Paul McCartney and Stephen Fry.

Anne Hailes started her career with UTV right at the beginning. Joining just as the station began broadcasting in 1959. This was the start of a long media career that spanned decades and various broadcasters across the UK.
Ask Anne was created in collaboration with the producer Harry Adair. Its no-nonsense approach to consumer affairs and lifestyle advice made it one of UTV’s highest rated shows in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Topics covered in this collection range from fashion and food to anxiety and education.
