An episode focusing on the issue of unemployment in Northern Ireland and the centres set up to combat this issue.
Anne interviews the public and members of staff at different job clubs and employment centres around Belfast. Staff describe research they have conducted into socioeconomic conditions in the area. We see the range of classes and skill taught at these centres such as computer classes and literacy classes.
The 1980s saw a steep rise in unemployment across the UK, including Northern Ireland. The overall official level of unemployment in Northern Ireland in 1989 was 15.7%.
