School Cleaners
Two pupils at Kings Comprehensive clean up as new council employees.
Kings Comprehensive School in Ottery St Mary has recruited two of its pupils as paid cleaners, as the school is finding it hard to recruit elsewhere. 17-year-old Gary Stokes and 16-yaear-old Julian Collingbourne are the new paid members of staff.
They clean the school for two hours every weekday after classes are over, receiving between £16 and £18 in wages each week. Both are currently happy with the arrangement. They feel the work is not negatively impacting their school work and still have time for homework. Head teacher Larry Watkins is also happy with the arrangement.
