Citizens Advice Bureau shines light on rural infrastructure.
A report on the often ignored rural homeless population. The problem is worse than in more urban settlements due to the limited resources available, including advice and poor public transport. Waiting lists for council housing and aid is growing with around 50-60 people requiring immediate help.
Louise Cowie of the Citizens Advice Bureau in Saltash explains the need for better infrastructure within urban areas, with better advice on mortgage repayments and benefits. Louise has recently had to deal with 17 cases of people sleeping rough and 91 cases where homelessness was an immediate risk. Louise believes the problem will only get worse in the future if we do not act now.
