VATs after Effects (Today South West)
Village Halls' VAT business rate drama.
There are fears the new 15% VAT on village halls will change village life forever. VAT on top of the increasing heating and lighting bills could be too much for local village halls to function properly.
Village halls regularly used for social clubs, events, playgroups could be classed as a business, which would mean being charged the 15% business VAT rates. Funding will have to be found via more coffee mornings or donations in order to keep local village halls open.
