Test your cholesterol today.
Chemists in the South West are being urged to get involved with preventative medicine, for example offering cholesterol testing alongside their usual prescription service. The Fernley Wallis pharmacy in Plymouth is no exception.
A cholesterol test involves a simple blood test; this can be done with a simple finger prick which is quick, relatively pain free, and the results can be checked there and then. Cholesterol levels are used alongside other factors, such as lifestyle and medical conditions, to estimate your risk of cardiovascular disease. Mike King and Maurice Hickley talk to reporter Gavin Grey about heart disease and the services pharmacists are starting to provide.
