Fishing for the Disabled with Jack Charlton (Good Evening Ulster)
Football legend champions angling for all.
A report by Jackie Fullerton for Good Evening Ulster on the opening of a new scheme for disabled anglers in Northern Ireland. Present at the launch on the River Roe in Co Londonderry is former footballer Jack Charlton, at this time manager of Newcastle United and one of the most famous celebrity anglers in Britain. He talks about the quality of the newly-built provisions and of the great location for fishing. Elizabeth Black and Norman Ogilby, two disabled anglers competing for their country, speak about how good the much-needed facilities are and how such schemes have already been run in Scotland and England.
Good Evening Ulster was the weekday tea-time local news round-up for Ulster Television throughout much of the 1980s and helped to launch the careers of household names such as Gloria Hunniford and Eamonn Holmes.
