A study of gender disparities in the workplace.
The Equal Opportunities Commissiom publishes a report that finds women have to work harder than men to achieve in their careers. Five professions were sampled and in each men were found to dominate senior posts. Legislation is in place to deal with, but informal attitudes are more significant.
The worst offender was medicine, notably in specialist areas such as surgery and gynecology. There was also an imbalance in teaching, where a majority of primary school teachers are women, yet men typically take senior positions, such as principals.
