Thriller writer Robert Ludlum also appears on the weekly Ulster Television book programme.

Anne Robinson introduces us to highlights of the programme ahead and then visits author Margaret Forster to discuss her new book, Have the Men Had Enough? She talks about how she dealt with issues surrounding dementia with her mother-in-law by exploring the themes in the novel. She says that one of the reasons she wrote the book was to start a debate about legislation and care for the elderly in society.

Anne then walks us through the UK Top Ten Non-Fiction Hardback Chart. Reporter Richard Barber travels to Florida to talk to thriller writer Robert Ludlum. He talks about the Salman Rushdie death threat and his desire to keep writing as he enjoys it so much, but recoils from the thought of ever writing an autobiography.

Anne visits the London home of horror writer, James Herbert. He talks about how his new novel, Haunted, is much more of a traditional ghost story than his normal horror novels. He also shares that while he is cynical about certain aspects of the supernatural, he is still a believer that there is something to it all.

The celebrity reviewer for the week is royal correspondent James Whitaker who casts his eye over several recent royal biographies. Anne finishes the programme with a look at the UK Top Ten Paperback Fiction Chart.

The Write Stuff was a weekly round-up of the world of books, authors and publishing and was a contribution from Ulster Television to the ITV network's daytime schedules. Each week, presenter Anne Robinson and reporter Richard Barber interviewed prominent authors, sought out celebrities for the latest books they'd read and ran through the weekly book charts.
