Building a bright future - the parents of gay children speak about the value of a support network.
Sir Ian McKellen introduces a film about FFLAG - Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays - referring to his own experience of coming out and his regrets in leaving it so late. In this short film, Joyce Layland from the Manchester Parents' Group speaks of how their group began, later joining with other support groups around the country to become FFLAG. Other parents tell of their shock, disbelief and sometimes guilt on finding that their child was gay, while a young lesbian talks frankly about the reaction of her family to her news. For these people, FFLAG which provides advice and information to parents, has been a vital resource, enabling them to combat misinformation and prejudice and support their children.
