A couple of years on from winning Wimbledon (and starting off the champion's tradition of climbing up to the player box), Pat Cash had reached a career high by the time he partnered up with Golden Wonder.
Crisps are not a food generally associated with top-level athletes, but the snack would certainly resonate with fans watching at home or in pubs. Several years later, rival Walkers hired Gary Lineker and arguably won that particular battle of the crisps.
Watching sports on the screen allows us access that would be impossible for the ordinary spectator, whether it’s running with footballers, floating above the clouds with skydivers or drifting so close to surfers we're getting splashed. On-pitch dramas and post-match interviews transformed athletes from sporting heroes into celebrities, flogging everything from training tips to new fashions to crisps.
