Opinions and values expressed in a busy Agbrigg hairdressing salon.
This film was explicitly designed to take a snapshot of Yorkshire at a moment in time on which future generations could reflect; however, religion and sexuality are topics on which, even in today's society, individuals have very strong views and can be quite polarizing, even among families and friends. Set in a Wakefield hairdressing salon, the film explores the changes in lifestyle of two former gay lovers through their discovery of the Church of the True Vine. Views on everything from The Holy Spirit, Father Christmas, homosexuality, and New Age "psychobabble" are freely dispensed at the salon. The men explain what it means for them to be a born-again Christian, focusing on rebirth, new life, baptism, and a personal relationship with Jesus, and how it has allowed them to be welcomed into this Christian community.
House of Changes' is a contemporary, thought provoking, and challenging film. Set in a Wakefield hairdressing salon, the film explores the changes in life-style of two former gay lovers through their discovery of the Church of the True Vine.
