It has the look, but is it a quality brand product? Fake goods found on sale in Essex.
What's behind those cut-price ski jackets, sports shoes, perfumes and watches? Essex County Council Trading Standards Office display a range of counterfeit products they have found on sale, designed to mimic products of brands like Adidas, Cartier and Ellesse.
Tony Adams, reporter for Anglia TV's 'Checkout' series, interviews Peter Wilson, Trading Standards Officer based at Hornchurch, Essex. A counterfeit pair of New Balance trainers, offered for £25, is compared with a genuine pair selling at over £100, and Dr Max Speake wears them for a 25-mile test run around Coddenham, Suffolk.
'Checkout' was a magazine feature within Anglia Television early evening news programme About Anglia.
Video filmed to be inserted during live broadcast of Anglia Television's early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia. The live studio presentation provided context for the video as part of a news story or magazine feature within the programme. About Anglia was not recorded during broadcast, so it is usually just the pre-recorded programme inserts which survive. In the 1980s Anglia Television was broadcasting to a wide area in the East of England including Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Suffolk and adjoining parts of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland where there was some overlap with neighbouring ITV regions.
