Beckoning all businesses! Cardiff's upping its game...

This promotional video for South Glamorgan County Council highlights the amenities and business opportunities in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and starts by announcing 'a day in the life of South Glamorgan. Cardiff Bay - the largest waterfront development project in Europe - offering new and exciting opportunities for a vast range of businesses.'

The film begins with a young girl call Amy and her grandfather embarked on a (virtual) hot-air balloon journey over a map of Europe, culminating in Cardiff - but these intrepid characters are soon abandoned for the video's real purpose, which is to highlight Cardiff's attractions in terms of its labour force, its infrastructure and transport links, not to mention its hotels, shops, businesses (including high-tech), and all it has to offer in terms of manufacturing, engineering, commerce, aviation technology, computing and telecoms. There is a reference to Cardiff's reputation as a 'media city', being a hub for television broadcasting and production, and a centre of excellence for animation. Sport is highlighted, as is culture and also education, with the presence of the University and (in the Vale of Glamorgan) the famous Atlantic College.
