A visit to Coventry's best curry pub, where Perminder and Jatinder Baines serve up the spice.
In 1988 the King William IV pub on the Foleshill Road in Coventry caught the attention of Central's Here and Now programme. Unusually for the time, it was mixing a pub atmosphere with authentic South Asian cuisine. Perminder and Jatinder Baines, who were running the Mitchells and Butlers pub, tell Anjali Singh the secret of their success, beginning with the early morning search for fresh ingredients. With dishes at under £2 it's not surprising that they were on to a successful venture, which began when they added a chicken curry to their traditional pub menu.
