They connect broad and diverse audiences to their cultural and socially significant collection that reflects the life, landscape, and identity of the people of the region since the 1890s. Together with their sister archive in the North East they form the Yorkshire and North East Film Archive, a unique pan-regional resource with over 75,000 moving image artefacts. Food Glorious Food takes a look at how our attitudes to food and food production have changed over the past 100 years. The programme looks a farming in the fifties in the Yorkshire Wolds, takes us into a fish dock in Hull to look at the work of the men unloading the fish and filleting them, and remembers the early days of the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate. It also looks at the genesis of the Jackson supermarket chain and goes back to 1964 and the baking of the world's largest pie in Denby Dale.

If 'we are what we eat', then we're definitely not who we used to be...
The British diet has come a long way since the days when lard, suet and condensed milk were the staple of every kitchen, and when 'takeaway' invariably meant a fish supper. We still love our fish & chips - and our Sunday roasts, full English breakfasts, sausage & mash and neeps and tatties. But today our supermarkets stock food and ingredients from six continents, and our comfort food may just as likely be curry, sushi, risotto, chilli con carne or peri peri chicken.
