With a rapidly expanding local population, increased demand for transport, and an appetite for sustainability, where could the Metro's plans possibly take them?
Project Orpheus was unveiled by Tyne and Wear Metro's operators in 2002 as the biggest planned expansion of the network in its 20-year history. The project was set to include the introduction of trams, river buses, and cable cars. However, the £1.5 billion project was abandoned in favour of a smaller project to replace ticket machines and refurbish the rolling stock. Since then, government funding has been secured to increase the frequency of trains across several lines.

The film features passengers on both the Tyne & Wear Metro, local buses as well as the Tyne Ferry and regional railways.
