16-year-old Michael Adams from Truro, Cornwall, was chosen to represent Britain in a world chess tournament, which was played via satellite through a computer programme. Playing since he was seven, Michael has been pitted against world chess champion Gary Kasparov twice before, drawing once and beating him once.
Michael is interviewed on a train while on his way home about his aspirations as a chess player. Chess is one of the oldest known board games still played. The rules of the game have varied greatly since its invention, but have now been fairly standardised.
