An incredibly rare example of deaf dystopian sci-fi; prepare to have your eyes opened to a whole new world.
A chilling vision of a world the Milan Conference may have wanted. When deaf educators gathered in Milan for their annual conference in 1880 they arrived with a bias against sign language. There was a view among some educators at the time that oral education was superior to manual education, and they resolved to ban the use of sign language in schools. This ban not only hindered children and young adults in their education, but it constituted a violation of their human rights. The ban was not fully overturned until 100 years later. An apology was finally issued in 2010.
Deaf drama about a man who finds himself living in a world without sign language and isn't able to communicate with friends or family. In this new world he is chased by two hunters who are tracking down anyone who can sign. The video relates to the Milan resolutions from the 1880s, which advocated 'oralism' over 'manualism' in schools to teach deaf children.
