A short promotional programme that illustrates the power of a Brighton newspaper to benefit the lives of many in the local community
This short promotional programme from 2002 shows how the annual Brighton Argus Appeal, benefits communities throughout Sussex. Hosted by the broadcaster, Nicholas Owen, the programme features a variety of families, organisations and institutions, each telling their own story to tell about how the Argus Appeal helped them directly as well as those in their care. In addition, a local trader stresses how important it is for local businesses to engage with local charities and how valuable and mutually beneficial that relationship can be for the wider community. A sequence showing the Brighton Argus' Christmas fund-raising event, a Gingerbread House containing Santa's Grotto, features vox pops with visitors applauding the event.
