Devon Bull Sale

Trading meets standards for cattle studs

A farmers market is underway with bulls such as the Devon Red traded for stud. The North Devon Red or Devon Ruby is an ancient breed of cattle originating from the South West. Characteristically deep red in colour, they are a hearty breed and valuable in terms of the commercial beef industry. The breed has been exported to America and Australia. The South Devon has a lighter red coat and is also popular.

A bull is an adult male and not castrated and may be more aggressive. The bull plays a significant role in both beef and dairy farming. It is not true that bulls have horns and cows do not, it depends on the breed and on whether the horns have been disbudded.
