Steam engines, Syon House

Richmond's Poolman family take in the thrills and spills of a steam engine rally and jousting tournament at Syon House.

Syon House, built on the site of the 14th century Syon Monastery, briefly returns to its medieval roots as the setting for a hotly contested – and outright dangerous – jousting tournament. Beforehand, many colourful steam-powered machines are beautifully captured by amateur filmmaker Mr Poolman on an earlier visit to Syon House for the August bank holiday steam engine rally.
