Rev. Begwell goes shopping, his wife reminding him to keep to the footpath and not to go by bus. To his dismay he is spotted by Miss Cadge who takes him by the arm on the way to the railway station. Outside the station they see a poster advertising day-retrun tickets available between 10.30 and 4.30. Miss Cadge tries to get the vicar to buy her a ticket but fails. They board the train and the vicar meets a friend whoa sks him if he is retruning by bus. The vicar replies that the bus is too crowded and with the cheap day-return ticket the train is easier and more comfortable. The friend is delighted with the news and rushes home to tell, his wife, jumping into a taxi with the vicar and leaving Miss Cadge behind on the street.
