Cowley Fathers' Mission in India
Life in Maharashtra, as seen through missionary eyes.
This amateur film captures everyday scenes in western India, as seen through missionary eyes, as well as ones closely connected to the religious work of the 'Cowley Fathers'. They were the Society of St John the Evangelist, a 'High Church' Anglican male religious order with missions in Bombay (Mumbai) and Poona (Pune). Therefore presumably these scenes take place in what is now the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Footage filmed in India, probably connected to the work of the Cowley Fathers' Mission - the Society of St John the Evangelist. Shows life by a river and farming; local women and children. Then focusses on scenes of a group of boys playing games and eating, with prayer before. A church mass with women and children. Then similar scenes of girls playing an eating.
