Little Red Riding Hood Up-to-date
Don't trust cross-dressing canines with your dirty linen says this 1945 soap powder advert.
A man in wolf's clothing attempts to get the washing done with boiling pots and a scrubbing board - until Little Red Riding Hood shows the hairy interloper that Rinso powder is the best cure for washday blues. This squeaky-clean 'updated' version of the children's fable replaces all the nasty bits with product placement - far more suitable for young and impressionable viewers.

The curtain descends on a dance act in a large theatre as the audience applaud. An announcer appears on stage and explains that modern educational authorities no longer approve of the traditional story of Little Red Riding Hood, and that it is not suitable for children. It is their pleasure to present the approved version of what actually happened in grandma's cottage. The curtain rises on the wolf disguised as grandma, who answers Little Red Riding Hood's knock at the door. "What a great big wash you have, Grandma" "All the better to dress you up in nice white clothes, my dear." "What a big scrubbing board you have, Grandma" "All the better to scrub the clothes with, my dear." "What a big copper you've got, Grandma" "All the better to boil the clothes with, my dear". Little Red Riding Hood explains that with Rinso you don't need to boil or scrub clothes, just soak for 12 minutes. The wolf is very grateful and decides not to eat Little Red Riding Hood after all.
