In crystalline tones, Lady Isobel Cripps appeals for aid following "Japanese atrocities" in China. Cripps was President of the British United Aid to China Fund during WWII and wife of Labour politician Sir Stafford Cripps. One of a series of films made for British cinemas, this short (incomplete) appeal reveals a humanitarian and political British interest in China, even as war raged in Europe.
