Here and Now: 16.01.1983: Arranged Marriage

Zubair and Saeeda from Birmingham are having a traditional Muslim wedding. The marriage is much more than two people coming together though, it is about two families becoming intrinsically linked. Zubair talks about the necessity of an arranged wedding and he his happy to make his desision based on family reputation and a photograph. Marrying for love alone would mean Zubair providing everything himself and who wants to risk losing family ties?
