In 1971 and after two hundred years of brewing the end was in sight for a famous Staffordshire beer. Joules' Stone Ale had been a familiar name across the region for generations but since a take-over by Bass Charrington the previous year the slow demise for traditional beer had started. Alan Jones speaks to drinkers in Stone about how the bottom has fallen out of their world.
