Snow in January

Snowcastles, rather than sandcastles, are the order of day as Aberystwyth's beach, promenade, bandstand and streets are covered in the white stuff, as is an outlying area.

Gwilym L Thomas records a substantial fall of snow in town and country. In Aberystwyth it can be seen to have covered North Parade, the promenade, the King's Hall, Marine Terrace, Constitution Hill, the shelter, the bandstand, even the beach. In an outlying area some vehicles are still moving and an original Fiat 500 takes a hill in its stride. A tractor, too, carrying several people, can tackle the snow, as do a walking couple and a dog.
