Established in 1992, the South West Film & Television Archive collection spans from 1893 to the present day containing more than 250,000 items. Formed from a variety of depositors, including broadcast news and programmes material from the Westward and TSW archive. In 2018 the archive collection transferred to The Box in Plymouth.

Westward TV's sports' reporter Chris Fear commentates highlights of a match between Barnstaple Town FC and Exeter City FC played on 22 August 1980 at Mill Road Stadium in Barnstaple. Dave Pullar scores for Exeter and Tony Kellow also features.

Barnstaple Town FC are current members of the Western League and play at Mill Road often against their local rivals Bideford FC. Founded as Pilton Yeo Vale in 1904, they were the first winners of the North Devon League and soon after changed their name to Barnstaple Town FC.
