Through the lens of renowned railway enthusiast William Arthur 'Cam' Camwell we take another trip to Welshpool, this time to see the official opening and the cutting of the ribbon at Raven Square. The Earl and Countess both get the limelight as the Welshpool and Llanfair is declared a preserved railway. See a train carefully marshalled across the road at Raven Square before the film journey continues into the town of Welshpool. This section of line is no longer open today and the preserved route is curtailed at Raven Square.

This is one of two films from 6 April 1963, showing the reopening of the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway, after fundraising by volunteers and enthusiasts. This film shows the opening ceremony, with speeches and huge crowds of people gathered to watch the trains. As the train makes its way through the town, a pig escapes and runs across the tracks, chased by a farmer.
