Established in 1992, the South West Film & Television Archive collection spans from 1893 to the present day containing more than 250,000 items. Formed from a variety of depositors, including broadcast news and programmes material from the Westward and TSW archive. In 2018 the archive collection transferred to The Box in Plymouth.

Police review lifesaving skills

The Devon and Cornwall Police join the Surf Life Saving GB team SLSGB, the Police Cadet Corps and Diving team to hold a parade in Torquay town centre to raise awareness for crime prevention, beach cleaning, beach education, lifesaving skills and sea rescues. Devon and Exeter Police, Cornwall County Constabulary and Plymouth City Police were amalgamated to form the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary in April 1967, Torbay has two divisions Torquay and Paignton-Brixham.

The SLSGB, the Police Marine Counter Terrorism unit and the Police Tactical Aid Group work together with RNLI life guard service to prevent illegal immigration, recover murder weapons, vehicles and missing people. Devon and Cornwall Police have the largest geographical area to cover in England and have The Marine Counter Terrorism and underwater search unit's jurisdiction extends 12 miles off the coast.
