Traffic in Carfax and Horsham

A fascinating view of Horsham's increasingly heavy traffic in the early 1960s, with buses, cars, markets and shops.

The growing amount of traffic on Horsham's streets in the early 1960s is captured in this colour film from Cecil Cramp. We see a variety of buses, including some London Country services, as well as cars, bicycles and pedestrians. Cramp also filmed areas of Horsham undergoing redevelopment and the disruption it caused. We get a glimpse of Horsham's markets and streets before pedestrianisation took place and the film ends with an outdoor steam rally.
