Out of True

Fictional account of a nervous breakdown. Molly Slade gets up one morning in deep depression. There's no tea in the house so she goes to the shop to get some but the shop isn't open yet. She ends up on a bridge and throws herself into the Thames. When her husband returns from work, he finds out that she has been taken to an asylum. There she is given medication and electric shock therapy to help her forget her worries. She meets Betty, a fellow patient, and they form a friendship, taking part in exercise classes, occupational therapy and table tennis together. One night she runs away from the hospital and goes home but her husband takes her back again. Eventually her treatment is concluded and she returns to her family.
