Winter Wonderland

It's not really a 'Winter Wonderland' for the drivers of Halesowen who faced the treacherously icy roads of Christmas 1957.

Film maker Ken Allen captures scenes of his home-town of Halesowen after snow fell over Christmas 1957. In the days before the widespread gritting of roads, narrow cross-ply tyres and other modern driving developments we now take for granted the roads over winter could be treacherous and liable to catch out any motorist - even bus drivers.
