Ten Bridges

Ten Bridges

A beautifully evocative three-mile glide along the Thames from bustling docks to bohemian Chelsea.

The plaintive songs and accordion playing of Cockney buskers Wynn and Bill set the mood in this evocative 1950s journey along the Thames. As the camera plies the river from early morning to nightfall, it captures tantalising glimpses of dockworkers unloading cargo at St Mary Overy's Wharf; a young lad gathering driftwood, the bright lights of Battersea funfair, and riverside barges at Chelsea.

Ten bridges span the Thames between the Pool of London and Chelsea, winding through 3 miles of London life from the activity of the docks to lyric barge life of artists' colony of Chelsea. Traditional songs from two cockney buskers.
