Beer House (ATV Today)

Beer and cider by the back door. Twyning in Gloucestershire says goodbye to the last of the village beer houses.

Geoff Meade drops by the unusual home of Nell Dix in the village of Twyning in Gloucestershire. Mrs Dix is the last in a line of proprietors of the village beer house where people could call in with their mugs, tankards and jugs and buy beer and cider to take away. Nell reminisces about the days when cider was tuppence hap'ney and the place was presumably a bit more lively than Geoff finds it.
