London Line Colour No. 40

Wing-walking air stewardesses and giant sticks of rock feature in an eclectic TV magazine view of a not-so-swinging 60s London.

In the swinging 60s, this government-backed magazine show aimed at North American audiences served up a very eclectic mix of stories: the death of smog, air stewardesses atop biplanes, bonny 'rhesus babies' and traditional British 'candies'. Presenter Michael Smee - "your man in London" - cuts a jaunty figure compared to his starchy roving reporters: even a mouthful of seaside rock can't phase him.

Clean Air Act: Ian Morrison reports on the success of Britain’s efforts to get rid of fog and air pollution following parliament’s Clean Air Act of 1956.
Rhesus negative: For unborn babies Rhesus Negative is a blood disease that is all too often a killer. A new serum has been developed by Dr Philip Sheppard and Professor Cyril Clarke of Liverpool University which prevents the disease right at its source, and it all began with a talk about butterflies.
Issue also includes following stories:
Bareback on top of a Bi-plane
Humbugs
