The Bill Poster
An early film in-joke
There's no mistaking who made this early film in-joke, which has a secondary function as an advertisement. The bill of the title - plastered illicitly over a shop window - is clearly marked 'Animated Photographs by C. Goodwin Norton'. Norton's own shop in London's St. Pancras provides the backdrop.
COMEDY. A boy posts a bill reading 'Animated Photographs by C. Goodwin Norton' on a shop window; when he has finished a man appears and engages him in a fight.
Note: The shop sign is not visible, but it is in fact Norton's shop, as seen in Norton no. 73.
