A personal journey of a Mixed East Asian woman exploring questions of mixed identity and finding ways to connect with her own heritage

What does it mean to belong? Nozomi’s short film succinctly and powerfully explores how her identity has made her feel. The opening amateur footage of the creator and her family intimately draws you into her personal reflections, before presenting an online desktop view of Nozomi living her life now – visually referencing how her generation live so much of their lives through laptop and phone screens.

Create partnered with English Heritage's national youth engagement programme Shout Out Loud for the Making My Mark project, through which a cohort of 11 young people received mentorship to produce these personal short films. As part of this cohort, Nozomi also created a supporting Instagram account @mixedfeelings.dialogue to sit alongside the film.
