Middlesex. The auto-glider Topical Budget 1014-1

Near miss in Middlesex, as a glider narrowly avoids a car when coming in to land after a successful flight at Hanworth Aerodrome.

Watched rather incongruously by a horse, the glider in this film is demonstrating a new method of getting airborne – being towed by car rather than using a steep slope and elastic rope. The pilot waves, the horse chews and the glide is aloft – magnificently – before almost hitting the same car as it comes in to land. Includes good shots of Hanworth Aerodrome, or the London Air Park, in Feltham, Hounslow, a popular venue for aerial events featuring high society.
