The Family
A man travels to the Isle of Arran to marry his fiancée, only to find that her extended family is part of the package.
It started so well. Two handsome young people, a chance encounter at a party, some romantic dates and a gentle guitar soundtrack; not a word of dialogue needed. The man journeys to the picturesque Isle of Arran, where he is due to marry his fiancée. Waiting with her is her family, a jolly and chattering bunch who warmly welcome the newcomer. But soon after the wedding, he realises to his dismay that they all share a most unusual bond... This cleverly executed, BFI-produced short merges reality with fantasy until both become indistinguishable.
This is the story of a young man whose life is dominated by his fiancee's
over-friendly and oppressive family. Fantasy scenes counterpoint realistic ones
throughout the film; by the end they are indistinguishable. (Filmed on the isle
of Arran)
