Minehead - Osborne Personal Film
A Somerset holiday with prolific amateur cinematographers the Tigg family
Over half a century and through three generations, the life of the Osbourne/Tigg family was documented in over 200 films. Working for Kodak at their Harrow factory hopefully qualified Mr Tigg for a staff discount, as this film alone runs for almost 45 minutes. Parts of the film were shot using Kodacolor, an early home colour system that used a special filter and ridged, lenticular stock to capture colour information. The scenes are black and white here, but have the stock's recognisable striped look.
Home movie footage of a family holiday in Minehead, from August 13th to 28th 1932. Includes footage of local places, countryside and events. These include the launching of the lifeboat 'Arthur Lionel', a polo match, a gymkana, a meet of staghounds, harvesting, and some Scots pipers. Among the places shown are Porlock Hill, Dunster, Alcombe, Carhampton, Cleve Abbey, Selwarthy, Bosington, Allerford, Watchet, Bratton Court, Tivington, Cloutsham Ball, etc. There are also general shots of the family enjoying tea, the children playing on the
beach, etc.
