Topical Budget 657-1

Walking, crammed on to trucks or gleefully riding bikes, commuters in 1920s London show how they deal with a bus and tram strike.

This film shows London commuters coping with a tram and bus strike. First, the packed streets around the Bank are shown with their usual bustle, before the film cuts to Westminster Bridge, with Big Ben looming in the distance, where cyclists and occasional cars zip through empty roads. That's followed by shots of train queues, pedestrians marching past Embankment tube and homeward-bound commuters piling into the back of a truck.
