The Grey Metropolis
A poetic evocation of Edinburgh drawn from the thoughts and songs of Robert Louis Stevenson
R L Stevenson's fond memories of his birth place are the inspiration for this award-winning experimental film made by teachers at a local Edinburgh school. Like the city shrouded in a "white wet vapour off the sea", the film's imagery of kirk-stones and statues evokes a melancholy atmosphere. Lightening the mood are some charming scenes of children's traditional street games and song.
Experimental presentation of the city of Edinburgh, based on quotations from the work of Robert Louis Stevenson. Amateur film by Nigel McIsaac.
