The Box
Established in 1992, the South West Film & Television Archive collection spans from 1893 to the present day containing more than 250,000 items. Formed from a variety of depositors, including broadcast news and programmes material from the Westward and TSW archive. In 2018 the archive collection transferred to The Box in Plymouth.

The Patton Brothers


The Patton Brothers make audiences chuckle at the Babbacombe Theatre.

The Patton Brothers Jimmy and Brian appear at the Babbacombe Theatre for the summer season. The double act began in 1954 and after appearing in the pantomime Aladdin in 1956 and in 2008 they entered the Guinness Book of Records for never having missed a pantomime performance. Their father was comedian Gene Patton and a well-known Gang Show performer who in 1943 appeared with Peter Sellers in The Number 10 RAF Gang Show. Their mother was a Rodney Hudson dancer.

The Patton Brothers are the older brothers of the Chuckle Brothers Barry and Paul Elliot. Jimmy and Brian have appeared in Chucklevision, Jimmy in 47 episodes as the character No Slacking and Brian in 21 episodes as the character Getoutofit. Chucklevison ran as a children's programme from 1987 to 2009. The four brothers have appeared as a quartet on television quiz shows and support Rotherham United Football Club. Their sister, Sheila was married to actor Bill Waddington who played Percy Sugden in Coronation Street. The Babbacombe Theatre is known for hosting successful sell-out summer seasons and responsible for launching the careers of many comedians.
